First Time to PTS?
To help the environment we do not use paper cups or plastic bottles at our events. You will use your hydration system to top up with water on course and at the finish.
You can also purchase a collapsible cup at the Merch tent! These cups are the best!
Please Remove Headphones
We strongly encourage you to remove the headphones today. There’s a lot of other users of the trail. Removing the headphones means you are aware of your surroundings.
Remember – your bib must be worn on the front and visible at all times
Post Race Presentations
Because we’re a big trail community we wait until the majority of participants to finish for each course colour before presenting awards. We love when you hang out and enjoy the vibe at the Finish. Relax and have a chat while you refuel with food/coffee/drinks available at the finish.
We’ll have some fun games, podium presentations and spot prizes! But you’ve gotta stick around to collect* and cheer on your fellow trail runners.
*Please understand, we will not post any prizes not collected.
VIDEO TIP: Course MARKINGS
We provide course markings the whole way to help you stay on track! Our blue flagging tape in trees and PTS arrows guide you around the course, and we expect you to follow the course markings at all times. Registered participants will receive the Event Brief email (with a downloadable Course Map) the Wednesday prior to event day.
We flag it. We pre-check it. We give you the map. The rest is up to you!
Trail running comes with surprises, so we expect runners to come prepared. Please read through the Event Brief, review your course map, listen carefully to the Race Brief on race morning and make sure you have everything you need for your run, including enough fuel and hydration.
One of our runners shared a great reminder:
“It’s highlighted a really important lesson to me, to always go on trails over prepared & never skimp on fuel. Adventures = surprises.”
We couldn’t agree more. Come prepared, look after yourself and look after your fellow runners out there!
*Actual event day course may change – always follow course flagging on the day.
Trail Tips
Getting Trail Ready
Embrace the Winter Trails!
Winter weather can make the trails wet, muddy and slippery! Take your time, watch your footing and adjust your pace to the conditions. A little mud is all part of the fun!
The Hills Are Upon Us!
Shorten your stride and use your arms to help drive you uphill. Power walk the tough ones and save your energy!
On the way down, shorten your steps, stay light on your feet and lean forward rather than back. Take lots of small steps to control your speed, and don’t forget to smile!
Passing Etiquette: When passing on narrow sections, call out to the person in front, “On your right!” or similar. Be also mindful when the courses rejoin. If you’re keen to pass, simply call out, “On your left,” and pass when it’s safe.
Get Your Rest: The most important thing you can do in the days leading up to your race is get enough sleep. A good night’s rest will help you feel fresh, energised and ready to enjoy your time on the trails!
Carpooling: One of the best things about these events is the community of runners! You guys! Woohoo!
A great way to get to know each other better is to rideshare. It’s good for the environment, plus you’ve got extra motivation not to sleep in!
Some Rules to Remember
Disqualification (DQ)
If caught littering or short-cutting/cheating, Disqualification (DQ) applies.
Minimum 500mL hydration must be carried for the duration of the event and it’s a DQ if you’re caught without it. If you want to run without hydration there are great footpaths in the city 😉
Bibs cannot be given to someone else to participate on your behalf. Your bib, your identity. If you did not enter this event, you aren’t allowed to run the course on the day. This is called “ghosting” and will result in being refused entry to future PTS events.
We highly discourage headphone use at this event as it is a risk to your safety.
Finding the course tougher than expected? You can drop down to an easier course. PTS events are all about having FUN!
Simply follow the course markings for the easier course and let the Sweep know. When you finish, let our Timing Crew know too.
Woohoo and have fun while on course, keeping in mind that trail etiquette is key at all PTS events. Look after each other out there!
Support station
For All Courses
Water refill stations will be available for participants on course and at the finish line. Please carry your own hydration system so you can refill along the way.
Approximate Aid Station locations:
- Green: ~2.7km
- Blue: ~6.3km
- Black: ~6.3km and ~13.1km
These stations are stocked with water, ginger beer, Coke, bananas, jellybeans and chips (plain and salt & vinegar).
