DIRECTIONS AND PARKING
Please read on for important parking information for Snakes N Ladders.
Serpentine National Park entry fees apply – unless you have a parks pass. We strongly encourage you to get one.
Parking within Serpentine National Park is limited and park entry is payable if you drive in. We encourage you to enter the park with a full car if possible to help get everyone to the start line.
We have organised parking at 1631 Karnup Rd, Serpentine (corner of South Western Hwy and Karnup Road/Falls Road-entry is via Karnup Road). Parking here is FREE and there is a shuttle bus running continuously, or you can enjoy a warmup trot (less than 2km) or a nice walk.
We encourage you to connect with your fellow trail runners and organise carpooling in our Perth Trail Series (social group) to maximise the parking that is available.
Where To Park
1631 Karnup Road, Serpentine (corner of Karnup Rd and South Western Highway)
Event parking opens at 6:45am. Please plan to arrive earlier than you normally would, to allow time to park your vehicle as instructed by the PTS Crew.
From the parking area please cross the road by foot and wait at the Serpentine Falls Roadhouse (on the opposite side of South Western Hwy). You can then hop aboard the shuttle bus to the Start/Finish area. The shuttle bus will run from 6:50am
Alternatively you can walk/run into the park from the parking area, it is less than 2km and an ideal warm up. Please allow enough time to walk/run the 2km and arrive at the Start/Finish area stress free.
When parking please follow the instructions of PTS Crew so everyone can travel safely.

Because we’re a big trail community we wait until the majority of participants finish for each course before presenting awards.
We love when you hang out and enjoy the vibe at the Finish. Relax and have a chat while you refuel with food/coffee/drinks available at the Food Trucks.
We’ll have some fun games, spot prizes and announce all the giveaways. But you’ve gotta stick around to win and cheer on your fellow trail runners!
We provide course markings the whole way to help you stay on track! Our blue flagging tape in trees and PTS arrows guide you around the course, and we expect you to follow the course markings at all times.
You’ll receive the gpx files and maps in the event brief email Wednesday prior to event day.
*Actual race day course may change – always follow course flagging on the day
Carpooling: One of the best things about these events is the community of runners! You guys! Woohoo! A great way to get to know each other better, is to rideshare. It’s good for the environment. It’s good for accountability. No sleeping in when you’ve got 3 other runners to collect! It’s good for directions – 1 person navigates, while 1 controls the tunes, 1 keeps the convos flowing and 1 does the driving.
Nail The Downhills: Let’s nail the downhills by getting those legs ticking! Try and increase your cadence – do this by shortening your steps. Lean forward, rather than back. Try NOT to heel strike. Land midfoot or forefoot regardless of how you normally run. Control your speed by taking lots and lots of small steps (be light on your feet). Confidence is the key to getting down there like a pro. And don’t forget to Smile – it’s always the most important part of your form!
Some Rules To Remember
- Disqualification (DQ) if caught littering or short-cutting/cheating.
- Minimum 500mL hydration must be carried for the duration of the event and it’s a DQ if you’re caught without it. If you want to run without hydration there are great footpaths in the city 😉
- Bibs cannot be given to someone else to participate on your behalf – your bib, your identity. If you did not enter this event, you aren’t allowed to run the course on the day. This is called “ghosting” and will result in being refused entry to future PTS events.
- We highly discourage headphone use at this event – it is a risk to your safety.
- Woohoo and have fun while on course, keeping in mind that trail etiquette is key at all PTS events. Look after each other out there!
Woohoo – thanks for coming out for Snakes N Ladders!
